The Gold World of Aerin
On a long list of to-do’s a snagged a quick peak. I was surprised by how gold her entertaining line is. It seems the entire collection is either gold dipped, or gold leaf or gold painted or 18k gold, which makes some of the price points quite high- then again, have you checked the price of gold on the market these days?
Of course there are a few brass and other non-gold items in the mix, but this is a colour statement if I ever saw one.
Some of the nesting bowls are simply stunning, particularly the hearts. I also thought the shapes of her vases were neat and I like the brass wine bottle stoppers (various designs) too, however, not for $75 a stopper. I get it, I”m not the target market for this brand. My price threshold for wine bottle stoppers is much lower than $75, but I can still appreciate the collection and gaze at all the shiny pieces in wonderment and awe.
Metallics are hot this season, and I haven’t seen another collection that is so focused on gold- Tom Dixon’s accessories might come in second but his are not gold, they are made of copper, brass and steel.

Reflecting about the beautiful pieces on the Aerin site, for me, using gold on the table would give me nightmares of “if I use it, will it get ruined?!” I am sure the answer is no-
(well, not exactly sure, but I hope the answer is no).
What are your thoughts on using gold tableware?
